EXO Cambodia is excited to have Sophie Chan on board as Product Manager.
Based in Phnom Penh, Sophie will be tasked with ensuring the company has the best travel products and innovative ideas to showcase the country’s rich culture, natural wonders and hidden gems.
She will also play an important role in supporting sales teams and EXO’s operation departments across Cambodia.
Sophie brings extensive travel experience to the role as well as strong personal ties to Cambodia. Hailing from France, she worked in travel companies and DMCs in Myanmar, Vietnam and Denmark before relocating to Phnom Penh in August 2023.
‘An opportunity to reconnect with my roots’
‘On a personal level, coming to Cambodia is a real opportunity to reconnect with my roots. My parents were born here and had to flee to France during the time of the Khmer Rouge. I grew up hearing stories about Cambodia, about how beautiful it was, its traditional culture and its friendly people.’
Her curiosity about her native culture and her passion for travel inspired Sophie to study and work in the tourism industry. After working at DMCs and travel companies in Myanmar, Vietnam and Denmark, she is excited to touch down in Cambodia as part of the EXO family
‘I know that Cambodia is changing rapidly, and I want to be a part of the upcoming wave of tourism growth.’
Sophie explained. ‘I’m usually the curious type who’s not afraid of trying new things to innovate and I knew EXO takes a proactive approach to finding unique ways to travel. It’s an ideal fit- this role provides a great opportunity for me to develop professionally while also helping to develop tourism in Cambodia.’

Marcel van der Zwaag, EXO Cambodia General Manager, is also enthusiastic about the new member of his team. ‘We are very excited to have Sophie on board! She draws from her experience working in the travel industry in Europe as well as also having extensive travel and work experience in the Southeast Asian region, resulting in a motivated, multifaceted individual. Sophie will have an immediate, positive impact on boosting our product power in Cambodia.’
As she heads off to Siem Reap next week for meetings and guide training, Sophie is looking forward to getting out in the field and exploring new places. ‘There are so many things to do and places to discover, from mountains to beaches. I want to encourage people to stay longer and see that there is more to Cambodia than temples.’
